Brněnská muzejní noc

Countdown till the museum night out this Saturday!

The countdown has already started for the popular Brno Museum Night, which is ready to launch on Saturday 19th May. Get involved and make this a unique cultural experience that is sure to keep you up all Saturday night. From 6 p.m. until midnight as many as fifteen Brno institutions will open up their doors, offering something for everyone. It is your choice whether you will opt for a tour of the newly reconstructed Brno Observatory and Planetarium, an exhibition in one of the museums in and around Brno, a programme in the library, a walk through the Brno underground, a concert in a church or a performance by the Brno National Theatre, which is a guest at the Brno Museum Night for the second time running.

The varied programme that has been prepared for you by the museums and galleries can be found on the web pages of Brno Museum Night and the individual institutions, on Facebook at facebook.com/brnenskamuzejninoc and in the programme brochures, which include a complete schedule of the shuttle buses operated by the Brno Public Transport Authority as well as maps for easier navigation. The programme brochures are available free of charge in all museums, information centres and from Wednesday 16th May from the information bus parked at náměstí Svobody. On the night the bus will move to Moravské náměstí, where volunteers will answer your questions related to the Brno Museum Night. Those interested in visiting the Museum of the Brno Region (Předklášteří, Prace, Rajhrad) can collect a ticket for the museums in the information office of the Brno Public Transport Authority on Novobranská Street from Tuesday 15th May.

Do not forget that this year some of the participating museums have decided to charge a symbolic admission fee, where the amount and method of payment are determined by the individual organizers. Please bear this in mind when you are planning your Saturday night itinerary and read carefully the museum programmes, the admission fee — however symbolic — will always be stated in the programme. ”Detailed information will be available well in advance for all those who want to plan their museum night out ahead, perhaps taking into consideration where the entry is completely free, where an entrance fee will be voluntary, or where it will cost a symbolic ten or twenty crowns. We still believe that lovers of history, art and culture will remain faithful to us,” says Kateřina Tlachová, the vice-director of the Moravian Gallery in Brno, an institution which holds overall responsibility for the Brno Museum Night.
